HUANCHUY – HUANCAVELICA

Objectives:
· To help local people of Huanchuy community to rebuild the house hacienda
Ruiz, for the reception of national & international tourists.
· To discover the impressive landscapes that the region of Huancavelica offers
by living experiences and adventure tourism in Huanchuy community,
actively participating together with local people in their daily activities and in
the rebuilding of the house hacienda Ruiz.

Characteristics:
Huanchuy is a young community, local people
emigrated to different cities because of
terrorism in the 80s and in 1993 they
returned and started the recovery of
Huanchuy, not only moral but also in terms of
infrastructure, like the catholic chapel
recently restored.

Location:
64 km south of the city of Ayacucho,
crossing the frontier to the region of
Huancavelica is located Huanchuy
community in the district of Chincho,
province of Angaraes, region of
Huancavelica.
Huanchuy is located on the bank of Cachi
river, at 2599 masl. It has 185 inhabitants.

Altitude: 2599 masl.
Weather: Due to its hilly geography and altitude (2000 – 4500 masl.), temperature
descends up to 3
ºC in the evening. Thus, we recommend you to bring warm cloth.

This programme offers to tourists the opportunity
to live with local families, actively participating in
their activities, such as the agriculture, producing
corn, barley, tuna and extraction of the
cochinilla.

08:00 Buy of materials and supplies in the city of
Ayacucho.
09:00 Departure to the community.
12:00 Arrival to the community.
13:00 Welcome at the house hacienda.
Welcome programme: Songs, typical
dances.
15:00 Lunch with community.
17:00 Accommodation with local families.
19:00 Videos about music, dances and handicraft
of Huancavelica.
21:00 Time to rest.
Day 2
06:00 Fishing in Cachi river.
10:00 Breakfast.
11:30 Participation in the rebuilding
of the house hacienda.
15:00 Lunch.
16:00 Participation in the rebuilding
of the house hacienda.
19:30 Dinner.
21:00 Time to rest.
Day 3
06:30 Breakfast.
07:00 Trekking to Huanchuy ruins (3 hrs. far from the community).
14:00 Lunch at the community.
15:00 Participation in the rebuilding of the
house hacienda.
19:00 Dinner
20:00 Stories, traditions and legends.
21:00 Time to rest.
Day 4
06:30 Breakfast.
07:00 Participation in agriculture activities
together with the community.
12:00 Participation in sport activities.

15:30 Return to the city of Ayacucho.

CONTRIBUTION :
Tourists contribute by participating in the rebuilding of the house hacienda Ruiz,
with the donation of materials and labour force.
